St George Police Area Command conducted Operation Engage along the Botany Bay Foreshore area between 5pm and midnight on Friday.
The joint operation, which also involved the NSW Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), targeted defective vehicles, anti-social, dangerous, drug and drink-driving, and other traffic offences.
During the operation, police issued 65 traffic infringement notices, conducted 367 breath-tests and 36 random drug tests.
Among those charged was a 17-year-old male P-plate driver who was allegedly detected driving 30km/h over the speed limit.
Eight charges were also laid. One man was charged with low-range drink-driving and being in possession of 30 grams of cannabis.
During the operation, a number of vehicles thought to be defective or too noisy were taken away for testing.
The RMS and the EPA issued a number of defect notices as a result of vehicles inspections.
