
Homes in Riverwood and Rockdale have been raided as part of an extensive police investigation into the supply of methylamphetamine (ice) and cultivation of cannabis across Sydney.
The homes were targeted as part of a series of raids carried out across Sydney in recent weeks, but only made public by NSW Police early today.
It follows an investigation which was started last September by officers from Redfern Region Enforcement Squad (RES), who established Strike Force Caprera to investigate the supply of methylamphetamine (ice) and cultivation of cannabis across Sydney.
Investigators executed 14 search warrants on June 2 at the home in Riverwood and elsewhere in Sydney.
During the raids, they allegedly found three hydroponic cannabis set-ups and seized 290 cannabis plants with an estimated potential street value of $1.015 million.
Four men - aged 26, 27, 33, 38 - and two women - aged 35 and 41 - were arrested and charged.
Later that day, police arrested a man, 64, during a vehicle stop at the intersection at Bass Hill and allegedly found $105,000 in cash in the car.
The man was charged with nine offences, including three counts of supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), three counts of supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity), supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity), supply prohibited drug and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
Police allege the man was involved in the supply of 3.1kg of 'ice' with an estimated potential street value of $1.5 million between December last year and June this year.
A short time later, a man, 48, was arrested at a home at Fairfield and charged with drug and firearm offences.
More search warrants were executed at homes in Sydney earlier this week.
During one search police allegedly found $12,140 in cash, 91 grams of cocaine, MDMA, cannabis and prescription medication.
A bag found following a police foot pursuit in Rushcutters bay allegedly contained more than 115 grams of cocaine and resulted in a man, 49, being charged with drug offences.
Search warrants were executed at homes in Rockdale and elsewhere in Sydney during a series of raids that took place from 6am yesterday, June 10.
During the searches, police allegedly seized more than $76,000 cash, 63 grams of cocaine, 11 grams methylamphetamine (ice), an electronic stun device, mobile phones and other electronic items.
Officers also seized a stolen medical machine valued at more than $100,000.
A number of people were arrested and charged with supply prohibited drug and other offences.
Police said they had so far seized 'ice' valued at over $1.5 million, 8 kilograms of cannabis, 270 grams of cocaine and more than $220,000 cash.
Investigations are continuing.
