Masks are now mandatory on public transport in the greater Sydney area as health authorities work to control an outbreak of the Delta COVID variant.

The rule was introduced after NSW recorded one new locally acquired case, bringing the outbreak to a total of four.
The new case is a man in his 50s who had been to the Bondi Junction Westfield, with initial CCTV footage of the centre's Myer store showing "fleeting contact" between the cases.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said people in the eastern communities should be on alert and limit their movements where possible.
"We know the virus has the potential to have been circulating in eastern Sydney in particular," she said.
The Premier also recommended people in greater Sydney, excluding Illawarra, Central Coast and Wollongong, wear masks indoors.
"It is not compulsory but we are recommending that, especially if you cannot guarantee social distancing."
Queensland Police has fined a Melbourne couple who travelled to the state during Victoria's lockdown.
Police said the couple were fined for allegedly providing false information on their Queensland border declarations.
It is alleged the couple travelled to Queensland, via Goondiwindi, on June 5 from locked-down Victoria.
The 44-year-old woman and 48-year-old man tested positive to coronavirus while in the Sunshine State.
They have each been fined $4003.
Victoria's new locally acquired coronavirus case lives in the same household of an existing case at the Southbank complex.
Restrictions across the state eased on Friday, giving Melburnians the freedom to visit regional areas and have up to two adult visitors and dependents in their home.
Regional Victorians are also enjoying an easing of restrictions, with capacity limits in a range of settings relaxed.
