The St George Brass Band has received funding to support their junior band group to perform across the State as part of the Community Band Development Grants 2021.
The St George Brass Band is among 26 NSW based community brass and concert bands selected for the 2021 Community Band Development Grants Program.
Funding will be administered by the Band Association of NSW, the peak organising body for community brass and concert bands in NSW.
In 2020/21, they received $55,000 as part of Multi-year Funding for Service Organisations and this includes $30,000 to deliver the Community Band Development Grants Program.
NSW Minister for the Arts, Don Harwin, said that the funding will increase band activity within NSW communities, with the outlook to grow audience numbers across the State.
"We know local arts and cultural efforts are an essential part of our life, our community and our wellbeing. I am looking forward to the return of live music as we hit our vaccination targets," Mr Harwin said.
Oatley MP, Mark Coure, said that the NSW Government was continuing to invest in community organisations throughout this difficult period.
"This funding will help sponsor a planned weekend away for their junior group and will allow them to perform alongside groups from throughout the State. This is fantastic news for local musical talent within the St George region.
"Local bands play a special part in our community and I am proud that the NSW Government continues to support them and their contributions to live music, as we look forward to life after lockdown," Mr Coure said.
