THE number of active COVID-19 cases in the northern beaches has increased, with a well-known restaurant put on alert by health authorities.
NSW Health has issued a COVID alert for anyone who visited Jonah's Restaurant and Boutique Hotel in Whale Beach on Friday, November 5. If you were there anytime from 11.30am to 3.30pm you must get tested immediately and self-isolate until you get a negative result.
The number of active cases in the northern beaches had fallen to 11 on November 10, but this has now increased to 17.
The 2096 postcode (which includes Curl Curl, Freshwater and Queenscliff) has the highest number of cases at six, data to 8pm on Saturday, November 13 shows.
Other cases include three each in the 2099 and 2093 postcodes, two each in 2097 and 2094, and one in 2095.
In the northern beaches, 93.4 per cent of people are fully vaccinated, while more than 95 per cent have received their first jab.
Across NSW, there were 195 locally-acquired cases and one interstate acquired cases, data to 8pm on Saturday shows.
NSW Health reported the death of a man in his 80s from the Blue Mountains at Nepean Hospital. He had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and had underlying health conditions. This is the first death linked to an outbreak at Springwood Hospital where he acquired his infection. NSW Health expresses its sincere condolences to his loved ones.
There are currently 224 people in hospital and 32 people in intensive care.
During the past 24 hours, COVID-19 57,878 tests were conducted, this has been trending downwards this week. This is more than 1000 less tests than Saturday, and significantly less than Friday's total of 77,119.
Vaccinations
Almost 95 per cent (94.2) of the NSW population over 16 have had one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. 91 per cent of the eligible population have had two doses.
NSW Health have now turned their focus to booster shots for the vaccine. Dr Jeremy McAnulty told media on Friday, anyone over 18 who had their second COVID-19 vaccination more than six months ago should seek a booster shot. He also reminded people early testing is vital if you start displaying symptoms.
