Storage won't be a problem for the first Amazon Robotics fulfilment centre in the southern hemisphere thanks to the largest warehouse ever built in Australia.
Construction is almost complete on the mammoth four level centre, located in Kemps Creek in Sydney's west, which spans a staggering 200,000 square metres - the size of 24 rugby league fields.
Able to house up to 20 million items sold by Amazon, the centre is set to open in early 2022.
The building's shell is complete with the internal fit-out nearing the final stages with about 37,000 storage pods built.
More than 4000 people have worked on the construction that includes the installation of about 14km of advanced conveyancing equipment to move inventory around, and 2.5km of Amazon Robotics safety fencing.
"The opening of this site will double our operational footprint in Australia while creating more than 1500 local jobs in western Sydney," Amazon Australia director of operations Craig Fuller said.
Overall Australia's biggest shed boasts 13,500 tonnes of steel - 3000 tonnes more than was used for Sydney Olympic Park's construction - and more than 200,000 nuts and bolts in its frame.
