November officially marks the annual White Ribbon event - a time when communities unite to stand up, speak up and act to say 'no' to gendered violence in Australia.
In the past five years, the school has made a targeted effort to highlight the importance of raising student awareness of the cause.
This year teachers facilitated a virtual poetry workshop and held 'breaking the silence' art and poetry competition in collaboration with year 3-6 pupils from Carlton and Sans Souci public schools.
The theme was respectful relations, and each student had the opportunity to express core values through creative writing. This also gave year 7 students core skills on poetic techniques, which is part of the English curriculum
The school ensured student unity was the focus, with an outdoor assembly to discuss the issues of White Ribbon.
This was led by the school captains and leadership team, whose role it is to inspire their younger peers.
Student support officer John Dangas spoke to the boys about the role men play in making a difference to the lives of women.
As a follow-up to the event, each year group participated in workshops to reinforce the message of respectful relationships.
