NSW budget: key spending measures

HOUSEHOLDS:

* $1.3b for families with young children under Brighter Beginnings Affordable Preschool plan

* $520m over two years for Toll Rebate Scheme offering 40 per cent cash rebates on tolls up to $750 a year

* $193m Back to School Subsidy, offering $150 per pupil for cost of school supplies in 2023

* $128m to help eligible households cut power bills under Energy Bill Buster program over eight years

HOUSING:

* $780.4m for a two-year trial of shared equity scheme

* $728.6m over four years for first home buyers land tax trial

* $300m for council infrastructure programs to support a growing population

* $300m to upgrade more than 15,800 social housing properties

* $174m to deliver more than 270 homes for teachers, nurses and police officers in regional areas

* $149.8m to upgrade and build new homes for Indigenous families

* $89m to accelerate planning assessments

* $73.5m to rezone key housing precincts in Sydney and regional areas

* $67.2m to continue and expand the Strong Family, Strong Communities program.

* $37m for 120 new social homes for rough sleepers

* $33.8m to increase house supply and certainty for developers in regional areas

* $32m for planning and infrastructure upgrades in Indigenous communities

HEALTH:

* $33b in recurrent funding, including almost $900m for the state's COVID-19 response

* $4.5b over 10 years to bring on 10,148 new health workers, including doctors and nurses for regionals hospitals

* $2.9 billion for mental health services

* $2.8b to build and redevelop hospitals and other facilities

* $1.8b for 2128 extra ambulance staff and 30 new ambulance stations

* $899 million for ongoing costs associated with COVID-19

* $743m for extra 600 palliative care doctors, nurses, health staff

* $408 million for elective surgeries

* $270 million for biomedical research

* $150 million for the Isolated Patients Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme

EDUCATION:

* $5.8b for universal pre-kindergarten year by 2030

* Up to $5b to establish an Affordable and Accessible Childcare and Economic Participation Fund

* $111.2m for developmental checks in preschools

* $37.9m to improve access to before and after-school care services

* $24.7m for support and guidance to early childhood education and care providers

WOMEN:

* $4.6b to increase women's workforce participation

* $150.5m to improve women's health

* $108.9m for respect for women and women's financial support

* $69.4m to improve women's experience at work

* $30.6m to support women at work and grow entrepreneurship

REGIONS:

* $1.6b package including a $1.3b top-up of the Regional Growth Fund

* $145m to set up a Regional Investment Activation Program to encourage investment

* $130m to fund a Critical Minerals Activation Fund to encourage critical minerals mining

* $3m over three years for a Regional Media Capital Grants package to support country news outlets
