Free vintage bus rides will be available on only one day for the month-long Sutherland Shire Citizens' Heritage Festival, which starts on Saturday April 22.

Traditionally, the buses have run throughout the weekend, but this year they will operate on just the opening day, Saturday, between 10am and 4pm, providing a hop-on, hop-off service between various festival sites.
A gold coin donation is suggested.
Services will start at the tramway museum at Loftus, which will be in full operation on the day.
The festival, which was initiated more than 30 years ago, is run in conjunction with the Australian National Trust, with assistance from Sutherland Shire Council.
It comprises of many local, voluntary groups, who come together to showcase their activities, along with several well-known organisations.
The majority of events are free.
The program on Saturday also includes:
- Tramway Museum - vintage tram rides towards Sutherland and the Royal National Park.
- Woronora Memorial Park - tours of newly renovated Art-Deco Chapel, old crematorium and historical artefacts. Graves of famous locals and notables will be marked with QR codes to explore the history of the person buried there.
- Brinsley's Joinery, Sutherland - explore the workshop with its historic tools and machines.
- Joseph Banks Native Plants Reserve, Kareela - members from the Australian Plants Society will be conducting tours
- Continuum Art Society and The Port Hacking Pottery Group - Shire Creativity" Art Exhibition
- Botany Bay Family History Fair - Everything you need to know for tracing your ancestry.
- Hazlehurst Regional Gallery - Selected exhibitions in the main Gallery and Broadhurst Galleries and chance to explore the Hazelhurst Cottage.
- Kirrawee Brick Pit, South Village Kirrawee - An interesting insight into the history of this early industry
- National Parks tour - Guided walks with a representative from National Park.
Other events being held throughout the festival include:
- ANSTO will be conducting tours.
- Cronulla Ferries - Take a cruise on the Curranulla, the oldest commuter ferry in Australia, with the crew explaining the full history of this beautiful old ferry.
- Sutherland libraries will be conducting special programs for the festival. Check their web site for details.
- The Sutherland Music Club will be presenting a program of Gilbert & Sullivan highlights at the Sutherland Church at 1pm on May 2.
- Southern Brass will be presenting a concert at Tradies Gymea
- Cronulla School of Arts will be open for inspections and tours.
- Kurnell Village Fair will be held on May 21.
- Meeting of Two Cultures at Kurnell on April 29.
