Jeep says its Wagoneer S will be its fastest SUV to date, and will outperform not only the best-selling Tesla Model Y but also the departed supercharged V8-powered Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.

The American brand continued its teaser campaign for the Wagoneer S in the lead-up to its May 30 unveiling by uploading a video to YouTube, comparing it to the Tesla Model Y – not only a major rival in the electric SUV market, but the world's best-selling car last year.
This dramatised footage includes a drag race between the two models, which starts with the Model Y getting an edge before the Wagoneer S surges past at higher speeds.
The brand claims its pre-production Wagoneer S accelerates from 0-60mph (97km/h) in 3.4 seconds once the industry-standard one-foot (30.5cm) rollout is removed – or one-tenth faster than the Model Y Performance.
This sprint time is achieved thanks to a dual-motor setup which can produce up to 447kW of power and 837Nm of torque, at least in pre-production form.
Jeep also claims the electric Wagoneer S will be faster than the discontinued Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, which accelerates from 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds, and is powered by a 6.2-litre supercharged Hemi V8 capable of developing up to 527kW and 875Nm.
The carmaker has yet to detail the Wagoneer S's battery capacity.
It does, however, claim the electric SUV will be capable of achieving more than 300 miles (483km) of driving range, however this is yet to be tested by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
From what we've already been shown, we know the Wagoneer S will feature a four-screen setup inside its cabin, which includes a digital instrument cluster, two central touchscreens (one for the climate controls), and a display ahead of the passenger.
We already know the Jeep Wagoneer S is confirmed for Australia, but it's not expected to be available in local showrooms until 2026.
