St George resume at 0-15 after dismissing Sydney Uni for 233 at Sydney University.
Saints teenager Luke Bartier continues to impress with the NSW under-19 bowler taking 2-73.
Young gun Eric Denhartog, who when called into first grade manages to take wickets, reaped 5-50.
"Luke and Eric give their best and have been good performers for our team this season," said St George Cricket Club president Kevin Greene.
"Luke and Eric are young bowlers with bright futures and we're pleased their playing with us."
Sutherland bowled against Manly with the seaside club scoring 9-307 on the opening day's play at Manly Oval.
Mitch Brown took 3-24 and Riley Ayre, 3-100 with the ball.
Saints: 13th on 25 points; Sutherland: sixth on 36.
The second day of Sydney Grade Cricket wil start at 10.30am on Saturday for St George and Sutherland.
