Strong cold winds and large swells have been the feature of the last few days, however, fishos may get a look-in this weekend if the harsh conditions subside long enough for the keen folk to wet a line. Offshore anglers will be looking to repeat their previous catches of snapper from the usual spots up and down the coast. This run of snapper should continue right through to August, and offshore game fishos should keep their ears to the ground if reports of large yellow fin moving up the coast prove to be correct. With the mullet run in full swing, we should expect to see plenty bream moving up and down all local beaches with plenty of salmon and tailor mixed in. Speaking of salmon schools have been seen making their way into Swansea channel from the entrance to the bridge and will stay there right through until spring. The lake anglers appear to be faring well with Swansea RSL Fishing Club champion, David Sykes, reporting large catches including bream last week. Large schools of tailor are also prowling about the lake and should stick around for most of winter. Squid have been hit and miss this year unfortunately and will probably taper off from here on in.
