THE multimillion-dollar upgrade of Narwee station is a step closer after Oatley MP Mark Coure announced that the scope of work had been finalised.
"Since I announced this much-needed upgrade, work has been under way to finalise what areas of the station can be improved, to make life easier for customers," Mr Coure said.
"The community has made it very clear that access is the number one priority so I am delighted to confirm the design incorporates a new lift as well as a stairway that links the underpass to the station."
Mr Coure said that in addition to the new lift and stairs, other improvements were being investigated, such as accessible parking, kiss and ride and taxi rank spaces on Hurst Place, kiss and ride spaces on Hannans Road, better signage in and around the station and canopy coverage around the new lift to provide shelter.
"I have said all along that I want more people to use public transport and this work will certainly make it easier for everyone to access their local station," he said.
"We will be working closely with the council and speaking to the community as the designs progress.
"I want everyone to know that the Baird government is committed to delivering this vital upgrade as soon as possible for customers."
