NETBALL has long been the No. 1 participation sport for women in Australia.
These are the facts and figures from the governing body in the Waratah state, Netball NSW.
In NSW alone there are more than 112,000 registered members.
Sutherland Shire Netball Association (SSNA) and St George District Netball Association (SDNA) have reported strong growth in all age groups in their competitions again this year.
"Netball NSW has regional co-ordinators and district officers across the entire state, managing an array of programs and competitions in schools, within the community, and in conjunction with our 118 member associations," said Netball NSW chief executive Carolyn Campbell.
In the SSNA, there are 26 clubs and 6500 registered players, making it one of the biggest in NSW.
In the SDNA, there are 11 clubs and 1550 fully registered players.
The 2015 SSNA winter competition starts on Saturday, March 21.
SDNA secretary Lara Mina said their 2015 winter competition started on Saturday, March 7.
Netball NSW has started the "Let's play netball" campaign.
"The year of 2015 is set to be an exhilarating year for netball in NSW, with Sydney to host the ANZ Championship pre-season Summer Shootout, the Netball World Cup Sydney 2015, plus other national tournaments," Carolyn Campbell said.
The Let's play netball campaign is a two-minute promotional video filmed during the 2014 season, featuring testimonies from grassroots netballers throughout NSW.
Flyers, posters, banners and websites complete the promotional coverage and the Netball NSW communications team is geared up for a wide-ranging coverage in print, digital and social media.
