ENGLISH batsman Jack Leaning is back for a second season in Australia at Sutherland Cricket Club.
The 21-year-old Yorshire player said he loves the lifestyle, living in the Sutherland Shire and the opportunity for another stint at Sutherland.
‘‘I am playing cricket full-time and enjoying it my time at the club,’’ Leaning said.
NSW assistant coach and former top Sutherland opener Phil Jacques.
Leaning said when Jacques played at Yorkshire the former Test batsman opened the door for him to join Sutherland.
‘‘Phil organised for me to come to the club,’’ Leaning said.
‘‘It’s a good club to play at, they are a terrific group of people.’’
The right-hand batsman is also captain of the Sutherland’s Poidevin Gray under-21s team.
The England under-19s player also coaches Sutherland’s Green Shield under-16s junior representative team.
Leaning enjoys coaching.
‘‘It’s good to see the young players develop and to work with them.’’
Leaning returns to England near the end of the grade season.
‘‘I head back to England on March 15 to get ready for the county season.’’
Making his maiden century for Sutherland remains his personal goal.
‘‘My highest score in first grade is 85.’’
Leaning said former England batsman Kevin Pietersen was his favourite player to watch growing up.
